Andrew Schoultz‘s solo exhibition Earth Vessel is his first representation in the Gulf region. The exhibition displays the symbolic and literal meaning of an earth vessel as a metaphor for the body and existence of humans. It is inspired by the fact that maintaining physical and mental health results in balance, while balance helps us to be present which in turn has a positive effect on our surroundings.
Andrew Schoultz has a visual approach to political and social discourse. His large murals, paintings, installations, and sculptures dwell heavily on patterns, producing an intense and mesmerising vision of current events. The exhibition is organized by Volery Gallery and will open on 27 May 2021. It will end on 22 June 2021.
With nine new artworks displayed, Schoultz poses questions about which vessels as mortal human bodies contain physical, mental, subconscious and spiritual elements as well as how they are affected by external factors. The duality of the motifs in his work reflects on the way opposites exist simultaneously in our world. He explores the results of balancing these opposites and the consequences of losing that stability. Through replicated symbols in his works, Schoultz allows the viewer to interpret the meaning. The abstract and optical shapes where lines of overheated reds and yellows meet with the realistic blues and greens call the viewer to contemplate what should be felt rather than seen.
