Racism is not exclusive to the United States. It has existed for as long as humans have existed. Millions of people have died as a result of it in the past. It's a sad chapter in human history that keeps reappearing, and it's still a global concern in our day. We cannot accept that this issue is only on the political agenda because the worst has happened time and time again... Every day, people are threatened and killed because of their skin color. When you don't see it in the news, that doesn't mean it isn't happening. Humans created it and continue to do so. It needs to come to an end as a result of humanity.
“It's fine to feel helpless. It's understandable to feel overwhelmed. It's fine if you're hesitant to take to the streets to speak your voice because of the Corona problem. It's fine if you can't afford to donate to groups that fight prejudice. It is, however, in no way acceptable to be ignorant and mute. “Now is the time for change!” AKUT, a Berlin-based artist, stated.
Falk Lehmann, better known by his alias AKUT, is a photorealistic painter best known in the street art and graffiti scene as the creator of the iconic German graffiti collective Ma'Claim and one half of the artistic pair Herakut. The project ISOLATED was also overseen by AKUT. AKUT tasked 37 artists from 30 different cities to capture glimpses of their studios throughout the quarantine period for this project.
